I grew up listening to them and this group brought the GAY in me.. how i miss them :)

On 7 June 1996, the Spice Girls released their debut single "Wannabe" in the United Kingdom. In the weeks leading up to the release, the video for "Wannabe" The video was an instant hit, and was played 502 times a week. The song entered the charts at number 3 before moving up to number 1 the following week and staying there for seven weeks. The song proved to be a global hit, hitting number 1 in 31 countries and becoming not only the biggest selling debut single by an all-female group but also the biggest-selling single by an all-female group of all time.
9. Goodbye
"Goodbye" is the Spice Girls' ninth single in the UK and is the group's first single without Geri Halliwell. Since the single was out of print, "Goodbye" was added to the end of Forever which was released two years later.
"Goodbye" was written by the Spice Girls, Richard Stannard, and Matt Rowe. The lyrics (although written before her departure) seem to pay tribute to Halliwell, who departed on 31 May 1998. It is highly rumored that the lyrics were technically penned by band mates Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton, and Halliwell. However until the Forever era, all five girls were credited as writers on previous albums. "Goodbye" was initially written for the Spiceworld album, but scrapped due to the girls not liking the lyrics. After Halliwell's departure, the four remaining girls rewrote the lyrics for the single release.
8. Mama
Mama", released as the fourth single from their debut album, Spice. It was released as a double A-side along with "Who Do You Think You Are". The single sold in excess of 667,357 copies in the UK. The song was written by the Spice Girls, Matt Rowe and Richard Stannard. Melanie B initially came up with the idea to write the song to pay tribute to the girls' mothers.
7. Viva Forever
"Viva Forever" is a song on their second album, Spiceworld, released as a single almost two months after the departure of Ginger Spice, Geri Halliwell, in May 1998. It became their seventh number-one in the UK, and their first without Geri Halliwell. The single sold 1.5 million copies worldwide, and was considered by critics as their best work.
"Viva Forever" was originally supposed to be a double-A side track with "Never Give Up on the Good Times", but due to Halliwell's vocals on the track, its release was cancelled

"Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)" is a song performed by British group the Spice Girls. It was released as the only single from the group's compilation album, Greatest Hits on November 12, 2007.[1] The song is the first commercial single release to feature the group's original lineup since Geri Halliwell left in 1998. Halliwell described the single as a "big love song" and "a Spice Girl classic".[1] Another group member, Melanie Chisholm announced, that she thought "this song is not good at all" and that at least she was against the release of any new material when the record company was trying to market the Greatest Hits release.

"Too Much" was written by Paul Wilson, Andy Watkins and the Spice Girls, and released as the second single from their second album Spiceworld (1997).
It became the group's sixth consecutive number-one single in the UK where it was certified platinum, and was their second Christmas number one. The song was released in the US in 1998, becoming the group's fourth and final top ten hit. "Too Much" was also the original song for their debut film Spice World.

"Stop" was released as their seventh single in the United Kingdom (sixth in the United States) and the third release from their second album, Spiceworld. The song is reminiscent of The Supremes single "Stop! In the Name of Love" (released in 1965) and other classic girl group songs and was chiefly penned by Geri Halliwell, although as with all their songs the other girls had a great deal of input. Though not the last single to include Geri Halliwell's vocals, it was the last single to be released before her departure.

"Spice Up Your Life" is a pop–samba song. It was released as the first single from their second album Spiceworld in October 1997. After its first appearance on British radio, the song received an overwhelmingly positive initial reaction.
It became the girls' fifth consecutive number-one single in the UK and was very successful in Europe, reaching the top five in most countries.

It was the third single released from their debut album Spice (see 1996 in music). It was their first ballad released as a single. Different from their previous material, which was more up-tempo and dance-based.
"2 Become 1" became the group's third consecutive number-one and their second million-selling single in the UK. Released in December 1996, it stayed at the top of the UK singles chart for three weeks, taking the coveted Christmas number one slot, and was certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). In the US, the single was released in July 1997, peaking at four (the group's third consecutive top five) and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It was one of their most successful singles, peaking inside the top ten on the majority of the charts it entered.

The song is known as the most iconic Spice Girls song in the UK as it was performed on the 1997 Brit Awards. It was during this performance that the girls first became their 'nicknames' and Geri Halliwell wore her iconic 'Union Jack dress'. When they performed this on their reunion tour, The Return of the Spice Girls, Geri wore a new, updated version of her Union Jack dress.
