Bishop calls same-sex weddings 'kadiri'
MANILA, Philippines - Bishop Teodoro Bacani said the pastors who allowed the same-sex weddings over the weekend should be prosecuted and revoked of their licenses.He said "pwedeng i-prosecute yun pastor for doing something illegal. Sigurado ako wala iyan marriage license. Pwede rin i-revoke ang lisensya ng nagkasal."
The unions were solemnized by the pastors of the Metropolitan Community Church of Metro Baguio at the Ayuyang Bar.
The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) earlier tagged the weddings as an insult to the Roman Catholic Church.
The Philippines remains a conservative country, with the Church a big part in discussions such as at the reproductive health (RH) and divorce bills.
Bacani described the weddings as, “Napangitan ako talaga, kadiri, para tayong gaya gaya puto maya. Laban ito sa salita ng Diyos.”
Bacani added that people who would be invited to future same sex marriages should not attend.
“Dapat i-boycott iyan at hindi na dapat magpunta ang mga iimbitahan. It is not right for people to participate,against moral grounds,” he said. – by Sheryll Mundo, ABS-CBN News
